MICCAI 2020 Daily - Wednesday
24 Whiteboard DAILY Wednesday Awesome Tal Arbel told us that she is now editor-in-chief of a new journal, Machine Learning for Biomedical Imaging , or MELBA for short. She is doing that with a dream team consisting of Julia Schnabel , Mert Sabuncu , Sandy Wells , and Marc Niethammer . The launching editor is Adrian Dalca . A few messages for the community - just like a real whiteboard at a real conference… MELBA MELBA was launched in conjunction with MIDL2020 . It is open access . It is almost free. It is an arXiv overlay journal so people can have their science out as soon as they want. It is expected to bridge the gap between machine learning and the biomedical imaging domains, in a way that is inclusive and allows people to submit without prohibitive costs . Many of the great friends of Computer Vision News are on board, so that is lovely to hear. Break a leg! Where is VALDO? As you certainly guessed, VALDO is VAscular Lesion DetectiOn challenge . This is a challenge that awesome Carole Sudre is co- organising for MICCAI 2021 on the detection and segmentation of (very) small vascular lesions. Carole Sudre Tal Arbel There aremanymethodological challenges in these tasks that have the potential to provide new biomarkers of cerebral small vessel disease and, through this challenge, the organizers are trying to increase awareness on this topic and boost the methodological development of automated solutions . In the preparation for the challenge, Carole and Co. are trying to assess the interest in the community in order to adapt (if needed) their initial challenge set-up. So please answer the survey that they have created on purpose!
