Of course, my background ismore in computer science, machine learning, computer vision, data science, and artificial intelligence (as some people call it). Here, we have to take into account all these other aspects that are very important when you try to apply these types of technologies to problems. Why did you come to the Netherlands? I did my PhD here. I have colleagues here. Also, one of my PhD supervisors is here. When I was in Cuba, one of my colleagues told me, “Why don’t we apply for a grant? You can come here and work on these topics.” They were also interested in this type of work, in the responsible application of machine learning and data science, also to make these types of technologies more accessible. I started cooperating in grant writing with them. Then at some point, my colleague told me, “Why don’t you also apply to a position? Then you can come anyway!” I did that. I tried to find a position that really suits my needs, in terms of applying technologies responsibly. I found this one! Do you want to continue in this direction? Yes, indeed. When I first started working in AI, I was improving techniques for machine learning models. That is very exciting to do!
