MICCAI 2020 Daily - Tuesday
32 Natasha Lepore around you? Of course! The first thing the Dean told us when we got into Harvard was “you all think that you are the mistake that Harvard made, but Harvard doesn’t make mistakes ”. [ laughs ] Then he said, “When you graduate, you’ll think that maybe, in fact, Harvard made a mistake giving you your degree.” [ both laugh ] Is there one specific thing that you would like to accomplish in your career? Maybe not for myself, but I really do hope that we manage to find solutions. I really believe that many brain disorders can be eventually managed so people can be cured, or live with them and be happy. I particularly hope that brain disorders will be controlled so that people don’t have to suffer. What is your role at MICCAI this year? I am one of the two Local and Regional Chairs of MICCAI 2020. In addition, I am one of the chairs of another conference, SIPAIM, which this year is co-organized with MICCAI. SIPAIM is a yearly conference in medical imaging that is organized in Latin America, for Latin American researchers but also with an international presence from around the world. It’s the 16th edition of this conference. Is it successful? SIPAIM is very active in Latin America. It’s a small but a growing community. We’ve been very lucky that researchers and students have been interested, not just within that region, but around the world. We have several world- class keynote speakers each year and amazing oral and poster presentations. The Latin American community is incredible, growing and very active. Maybe next year they can be featured in the magazine. That would be really great! Find out more than 100 interviews of Women in Computer Vision on RSIP Vision's website! DAILY Tu e s d a y
