“Predictive intelligence allows for early diagnosis at a low cost , which is a very powerful thing,” Islem tells us. “This is why I’m a big fan and generally all of my works at BASIRA-LAB revolve around it. You can think about predictive intelligence in different ways at different levels. You can predict data at the scale level, time level, or resolution level . It is like a multi-dimensional research field. Highly multi-disciplinary, where we want to connect all these features together and then be able to generate these intelligent systems that are primarily and fundamentally predictive.” But how can predictive intelligence be leveraged in a real clinical setting ? If a patient has a stroke, for example, when they are admitted to hospital, the doctor acquires one T1-weightedMRI, and from that can chart out all the missing data. The patient does not need to spend 30 minutes in an additional functional MRI or PET scanner. Using a conventional MRI scan , they can predict brain graphs, brain connectivity and brain imaging.
