MICCAI 2016 Daily - Wednesday
MICCAI Daily: Mariana, can you tell us something about you? Mariana Bustamante: I am a PhD student. I study in Sweden in Linköping University. I am from Venezuela. In Venezuela, I studied computer science. Then I moved to Sweden. I did my Master’s in Uppsala University in Sweden. Then a few years ago I moved to Linköping where I started my PhD. MICCAI Daily: Why did you choose Sweden? Mariana: Uppsala University, where I did my Master’s, had an exchange program with my home university in Venezuela. I had heard of this university before, since I had friends that had done this exchange program. When I was looking for places to do my Master’s, I looked at it because I had already heard that it was a good university. In the end, I went there. It was a great decision. There is really good quality education in Sweden. MICCAI Daily: I understand that you are here for a specific purpose at MICCAI. Can you tell us more about it? Mariana: I’m here to present (today at Oral Session 4) a new method for angiographic generation from 4D flow MRI. That’s the type of data that we are researching. In cardiac 4D flow MRI, we take images of the heart and the major vessels around the heart. Those images include information on the flow of the blood inside the heart as well. Then we can do visualizations with it. We can do analysis on what is happening with the flow of blood as the heart is beating. In other words, we are trying to generate four-dimensional MRA data from 4D Flow MRI. The previous methods to which we are comparing our method, and have been used before, take a 4D Flow MRI image and do an average over time to generate a 3D image, hence losing CVPR Daily: Thursday Our Pick for Wednesday 4 MICCAI Daily: Wednesday 4D Phase-Contrast Magnetic Resonance CardioAngiography (4D PC-MRCA) creation from 4D flow MRI “ There is really good quality education in Sweden ” Mariana Bustamante
