MICCAI 2016 Daily - Tuesday
Dear Reader, We are happy to welcome you to this first ever MICCAI Daily. Following the very successful example of CVPR Daily (earlier this year in Las Vegas) and last week’s ECCV Daily in Amsterdam, also MICCAI 2016 has decided to partner with the online magazine Computer Vision News (published by RSIP Vision) and offer every morning this brand new MICCAI Daily to the conference participants. The advantages presented by this novelty are twofold: on one hand, we put under the spotlight the work of many presenters, whether they have a workshop, an oral or a poster; on the other hand, we create an additional communication tool for the MICCAI community, enabling all of us to know better what others are working at. Computer Vision News has started a successful program, by which it interviews Women in Science to learn better about how they feel and what they would like to change. The purpose is to compensate (at least partially), the well-known gender imbalance in our community. By popular (especially female) demand, this initiative has been adopted by MICCAI on this Daily. Don’t miss the interview of Lena Filatova at page 8. MICCAI 2016 is rich of novelties. Find them out in a separate discussion between Sebastien and Ralph at page 12. The President of MICCAI Society Wiro Niessen was kind enough to share with us his views. Find the interview at page 14. Enjoy the reading!
