ISBI Daily - Saturday

Good morning ISBI! It has been a true honor co-organizing this event - it seems like a life time ago when in April 2015 I proposed to run ISBI 2018 in DC with a little nudge from Jean- Christophe Olivio-Marin who was ISBI SC chair at that time. I couldn’t be happier with the choice of top Imaging scientists and engineers who agreed to join me on the organizing committee and for the SC to have given us the green light. Three years later, the program has been tremendous. I couldn’t have been happier with the plenary talks which have covered optical, MRI, Ultrasound, and Microscopy. And I am truly glad that Dr Kyle Meyers from the FDA and her group as well as Dr Shabestari and colleagues from NIBIB agreed to holding the workshops at ISBI to tell us about the approval process for Imaging devices and software and the grant application process at the NIH. But at the end of the day it’s the authors and presenters who deserve the lion’s share of credit for making this meeting a success. It’s their innovative work and presentations that got me excited in each session of the conference. In all some 700 people registered - the most in recent times for ISBI. I look forward to seeing everyone next year in Venice ! Amir Amini , PhD, FIEEE, Fellow AIMBE Professor and Endowed chair in Bioimaging Director, Medical Imaging lab, University of Louisville General co-Chair, ISBI 2018 Dear reader, The last day of a conference always comes with a taste of goodbye. I arrived to ISBI 2018 as a newcomer, only three days ago and it took me minutes to feel at home - now it feels like I’ve always been here. There’s something special in this community! And I am so grateful to all those who helped me publish and circulate these three ISBI Daily magazines. Thank you! Many readers told me how much they appreciate this new publication and how it fills a real communication need. This connection can and must continue: subscribe for free to Computer Vision News and you will contribute to strengthen the bonds within the algorithm community. RSIP Vision’s main publication has the same editorial team and very similar image processing content. I will be delighted to see this bond and this spirit continue! In the meantime, enjoy the reading and the last day of ISBI 2018!
