Ironically, despite the European Union's substantial financial trust, my visa application has encountered multiple rejections this summer -three, to be exact. While I would prefer to attribute these setbacks to personal factors rather than discrimination against scientists hailing from non-EU nations such as Turkey, I remain skeptical.
