Cigdem Turan is currently a Post-doc at the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Lab at the Technical University of Darmstadt. She also works in a BMBF-funded project called IKIDA. More than 100 inspiring interviews with successful Women in Computer Vision in our archive Cigdem, can you tell us about your current projects? I have two different projects. At the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Lab, I’m mostly working on extracting the sense of right and wrong from language models. We call it several different names but the idea is that we do not only extract biases. The language model doesn’t only have biases like computer science is related to males and nurse is to females. They also have knowledge like: “ Should I kill humans? ” That’s a no. “ Should I kill time? ” And it’s yes.
