ICCV Daily 2021 - Friday

Good morning ICCV! Welcome to the fourth and final edition of ICCV Daily for 2021, published by RSIP Vision . A big congratulations to everybody involved in this stunning week filled with so much innovation and ingenuity, and a huge thank you to the entire organizing committee for achieving so much in these challenging times. As we enter the final few days of ICCV 2021, work is already taking place behind the scenes on ICCV 2023 , which will be held in Paris, France . Paris is the number one tourist destination in the world, and this will be the first time a major computer vision conference has ever been held there . We will combine beautiful city with a fascinating and innovative scientific program. Virtual meetings have allowed us all to keep in touch over the last 18 months, and for that we are thankful, but our conferences can’t be fully replicated in a virtual format. We all miss the lively discussions we used to have face to face crowded around posters, for example. We are considering retaining some hybrid elements to have the best of both worlds in the future. Certainly, having access to all the material and media online has worked very well. We must give a word of thanks to this year’s Program Chairs – we have all performed this role in the past and know how much work it is to take on. We have five excellent Program Chairs for ICCV 2023 – Lourdes Agapito , Yasutaka Furukawa , Kristen Grauman , Kaiming He , and Ivan Laptev – and have no hesitation in saying the event is in safe hands! We look forward to welcoming everybody in person to Paris. It is still early days, but with the field of computer vision growing so fast, we are sure you will see some exciting new directions alongside some of the more familiar elements.
