ICCV Daily 2019 - Tuesday
Kyoung Mu, thank you very much for giving us your time. How many people are here at ICCV 2019? This year at ICCV 2019 we have 7,500 attendees. It is a record-breaking year in the history of ICCV. We are very excited to be hosting all these great participants from all over the world! The event is being held in Korea for the very first time. Are you excited to be introducing the community to Seoul? This is very special. Seoul is the capital city of Korea and has 600 years of history. It is a modern, world- class city in which you can enjoy so many different aspects of beauty and entertainment. You can visit the palaces, the beautiful parks, the old markets, and so much more. I hope everyone can fully enjoy Seoul while they are here at the conference. This event is alsoanopportunity for the Korean computer vision community to get better acquainted with the global computer vision community. The Korean computer vision community has grown so much recently. Not only in size, but also in quality as well. There are more than 3,000 attendees from Korea at the conference this year. This is amazing. Computer vision, machine learning and artificial intelligence in general are such hot topics now and subject and issues. I think ICCV will spark new directions and new momentum for the growth of our computer vision community in Korea. Do you have any advice you could give to a young Korean researcher who has come to their first major conference? How can they get the maximum benefit from being here? I recommend young researchers who have come to the conference for the first time meet as many people as possible so that they can communicate, not only for the research, but also for cultural exchange. Making good friends from all around the world and networking are very important for their future research career. They should meet everybody, say hello, and exchange ideas. Also, introduce them 6 Welcome DA I L Y
