Let’s see… I think that the nice thing about the university was that the theoretical part was strong, which means that when I went away, when I went abroad, I felt that the basics were there. It was a great place to start. With all the universities that are in Spain, why did you choose Granada? Because it was the closest to my family. Where are you from? Granada! After you finished your bachelor’s in Granada, what happened? After that, I knew for a fact that I wanted to learn more. So I applied to different fellowships. In the end, I got a fellowship that paid for my master’s at Brown. It was given by the king. Of which country? Spain Ah, of course. We always forget that Spain has a king. [ she laughs ] How did studying at an American university impact you as a young girl coming from Spain? It was the second time that I lived in North America because I studied one year abroad in Canada. It wasn’t quite as shocking, but I think that I was pretty impressed when I arrived at Brown about how passionate and devoted people were. People were just pouring themselves into what they were doing. It’s something that I don’t know if I had seen before. This was super exciting. Why do you move around so much?
