ECCV 2018 Daily - Thursday

Daily Thursday 13 For workshop chairs we have Yoichi Sato and Raquel Urtasun . Our tutorial chairs are Silvio Savarese and Bohyung Han. This is a gold team for success! Yes, of course! I strongly believe that this team will organise a great program and event. What is the biggest worry that you have now? As a general chair, the most worrying thing is how many people will attend. We are expecting 5,000, but it could be 6,000 or 7,000. It’s very hard to estimate, so we are now trying to get a solid number for attendees. Also, the number of sponsors. For recent CV conferences, the sponsorship and exhibition are getting more important and much bigger. It’s a difficult job to pull together an academic program and an industry exhibition. They both have different characteristics, but it is very important that we make sure both are successful. I’m sure that you must have been observing ECCV 2018 very carefully, because you know that the next event is yours! [ Kyoung Mu laughs ] Yes, actually the most important thing that I have tried to observe is how the organisation team works to make attendees happy and comfortable throughout the whole event. I can see that they are very professional. For registration, they have a verification barcode system, and teams are well trained so that no one had any difficulty. At big conferences, you often see very long lines to get in and be registered, but this time we didn’t have any at all. It was a perfect flow. Yes, that’s amazing. Also, all the facilities are nice. The auditorium is big enough so that everybody can listen well to the oral presentations. The venue is spacious and not that crowded. The service at coffee breaks is excellent. It’s been wonderful.
