ECCV 2018 Daily - Monday

However, sometimes not everything goes to plan. Hector tells us that they are using an existing game physics engine, and it turns out that when you’re using complex objects, they don’t always behave the way you’d expect. The simulation is complex, and the default settings assume that you’re using simple objects, so you have objects that jump around and behave strangely for no apparent reason. He adds that it took a while before they managed to find a good set of settings that worked well. Hector explains what the next steps are for this work: “ Firstly, we want to put this system onto an actual robot , and then we need to deal with all of the visual components that are simplified by simulation. Secondly, we want to change our current prediction engine to a differentiable one , so that we can then do better action prediction, which can be ambiguous .” Daily MONDAY 10 Hector Basevi 7
