ECCV 2016 Daily - Thursday
ECCV Daily: What are the practical applications in the real world of the work that you are doing? Matthias: I can imagine many different works starting from medical applications like tracking the human body during an operation. In can provide motion compensation in some areas. It could also extend into the film industry to get a reconstruction of the actors or human motion capture. There are many approaches that handle this human motion. We are trying to do it unconstrained and for every environment. ECCV Daily: When is your poster? Matthias: It is today (Thursday) afternoon, in the session 16:45- 18:15, poster P-3C-20. ECCV Daily: If you could add one feature to this work that is not currently there, what would it be? Matthias: What is challenging is that on the different lighting and different material sometimes the SIFT matching will fail and won’t recognize the same point because it’s reflecting or it’s very glossy. I would like to incorporate some kind of lighting and material estimation. I’m also currently working on this part to get lighting and material into the scene. ECCV Daily: If you could work on another subject, what would it be? Matthias: That is a good question. I can’t think of any other area because I’m really excited about my current field of work and to work with Matthias Niessner and Michael Zollhoefer. There are many interesting areas, but I think my current work is really interesting.
