Computer Vision News Computer Vision News 42 As an active member of the MICCAI Student Board, Anna helps organize various engaging activities for conference participants, and this year was no exception. “I hope everyone enjoyed all the fun activities that the MICCAI Student Board prepared,” she says. “In particular, I was excited about the day tours to Marrakesh and guided food tours. I hope you guys really enjoyed the delicious foods. I’m so sad that I missed that!” Anna is originally from Ukraine and speaks fondly of her roots and the importance of representing her home country on the international stage, particularly in light of current events. “It means a lot to me,” she reflects. “One day, I hope to go back and share the knowledge I’ve gained. My big dream is to bring what I’ve learned back to Ukraine. I’ll definitely be looking out for such an opportunity in the future. I’m very excited to represent Ukraine at such a big conference.” For any PhD student, the inevitable question of ‘When are you finishing?’ can be a delicate one, but we try our luck nonetheless. “That’s a good question, but it’s also something you shouldn’t ask a PhD student!” she laughs. “I’m looking into graduation within the next year or two, but I’d like it to feel natural and not to put myself under stress.” As for what comes after the PhD, the dream job is clear: “Professor,” she declares confidently. “Immediate tenure track. Aim high!” We do not doubt that Anna will reach her goal and continue to educate, inspire, and contribute to the global scientific community. “Thank you so much for having me,” she concludes with a smile. “It’s such an honor.” As a long time fan of Tintin, I had to notice the very first story that I ever read, on Anna’s living room’s wall.
