With all the things that you have learned in science, can you teach us one lesson that particularly impressed you? That is a tough one. You're right, I have had different mentors over the years. I still have my mentors, because you definitely need mentors at every stage of your career. One thing that stuck with me, and one thing that I try to teach my students, goes back to my PhD years. It wasn't like open, dictated learning. It's observational learning. Showing me that it is the integrity of science that is the most important thing in our careers! It's not the number of publicationsor thenumber of presentations you're giving. It's really the rigor and the integrity of your work that's going to carry you forward. That’s what everyone is going to remember and appreciate, and that's going to make a difference. So, I always keep telling my students that, rather than rushing, it is really important to understand all the details. But, also ask yourself: why are you doing it? It's not just for another paper in your CV. It needs to contribute to others' work as well as to your overarching goal. In my case, it's clinical research, clinical trials.
