Congrats, Doctor! 10 The current clinical challenge in prostate cancer management is to detect cancer earlier and more accurately, in order to decide the best treatment for each patient. MRI has shown great promise to fulfill these goals, and is already embedded in the clinical pathway for prostate cancer management. However, today it still has limitations: 1) the clinical images are two-dimensional and lack fine detail, thus there is a risk of missing small cancer foci; and 2) radiologists evaluate the images in a qualitative, thus non-objective manner. Elisa Roccia completed only a few days ago her PhD at King’s College London, where she developed aMagnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) acquisition modality for prostate cancer diagnosis. She currently works as Global Clinical Marketing Manager for MRI Oncology at Siemens Healthineers. She told us that “This role enables me to work at the interface between research, communication, customer relations, and problem solving in diagnostic oncology”. Congrats and best of luck to Elisa from all of us!
