236 The first MICCAI workshop on Advances in Simplifying Medical Ultrasound (ASMUS) took place on Sunday 4 October – on the first satellite day of MICCAI 2020 , all hosted online due to the ongoing pandemic. The workshop aimed to bring together the growing MICCAI research community working towards the next generation of medical ultrasound imaging methods and systems , building upon the previous success of the MICCAI POCUS (Point-of- Care Ultrasound) workshop series. With a focus on “simplifying ultrasound”, the user-dependency nature of ultrasound is recognised and understood to be one of the most significant challenges for better accessibility of the technology. Chairing the workshop were Yipeng Hu (University College London), Alison Noble (University of Oxford), and Stephen Aylward (Kitware). ASMUS attracted 26 full paper submissions – 19 of these were accepted after peer review (9 full presentations, 10 short presentations). 10 of the papers came from the EU and UK, 4 from China and Japan, and 5 from the USA and Canada. In addition, the workshop included the Advances in Simplifying Medical Ultrasound Su-Lin Lee MICCAI Workshop by Su-Lin Lee Yipeng Hu Alison Noble Stephen Aylward Best of MICCAI 2020
