3 Pramit Saha 21 Best of MICCAI 2020 Pramit is keen to acknowledge his co- authors: “I am indebted to Professor Sidney Fels. He has been so motivating and is always brainstorming ideas on how we can better investigate the domain. He showed me what research means and how to ask the right questions – which is already 50 per cent of the research done! Also, Professor Bryan Gick, head of the UBC Department of Linguistics, has helped to shape my ideas by sharing his insights on speech and speech motor control in particular. He has helped me to focus and figure out what aspect of the project is important. Lastly, my colleague Yadong Liu, who is a PhD student working in the UBC Interdisciplinary Speech Research Lab. He is an expert in the domain of speech production. The project would not have been possible without his guidance and his effort to lead on data collection and preparation.” Finally, we ask Pramit, how does it feel to have been recognized with a Young Scientist award ? “I am very happy to receive this prestigious award!” he declares. “I didn’t expect it, but it opens up a lot of opportunities. It will keep me motivated to continue working on this domain because I understand how important it is that the community is acknowledging my approach. As a result, I will be able to meet more people and my work will get more exposure, like in this magazine Computer Vision News !”
