2 Summary Wo en in Computer Vision 34 Severine, can you tell us about your work? My role is to lead projects related to computer vision applied to metrology and defect detection. How did you get there? I used to be a software engineer. In the middle of my career, eight years after working as a software engineer, I decided to start a PhD in computer vision, mainly in the domain of helping elderly people. The goal of this project was to provide new approaches for elderly people using a rollator, to have a vision system that helps them be independent in terms of displacement. After that PhD, I had a proposal from a company in the regulatory environment which requires different testing equipment for theirongoing products being developed. For that, they needed someone for X-ray images and how to use them for metrology, for non- destructive testing including machine learning. You made a special choice that we do not see very often, to pursue your PhD eight years after your master ’s degree. How did you make that decision? Séverine Cloix is a Vision Engineering Project Leader with a PhD in Computer Vision. "I think the universe was telling me to do it, and you will end up getting something good."
