3 Summary Niksa Valim 27 Do you consider yourself quite lucky in the way things have turned out for you? Yes, I always say that. I ’m a very positive person. I always say that I have very good opportunities for my career. My PhD proves that. Are you going back to Iran? Not very often. We are very busy here. It ’s been very busy here doing my PhD and postdoc. Currently, I ’m very busy with my work. What is the thing that you miss the most from your home country? Why didn’t you continue your studies in Iran? There are great universities there! Yes, there are lots of good universities there. Here, in the US, we have very good research labs. It was my f irst choice to work in a very good research lab, to be able to work with the leaders in this f ield and learn from those people. In Boston, I had the opportunity, because in Boston, you have MIT and Harvard. My PhD advisor was a postdoc at Harvard. He was very impactful as an advisor. I learned a lot from this research whi le doing my PhD.
