For David, the most important thing is that the work is used for good: “We spend millions on developing these complicated algorithms, but it’s important that we use them to improve patient care. That’s why I do it. To help people.” Finally, David wants to give a shout- out to the MIDL organizers , who did a fantastic job pulling together a virtual conference at such short notice: “The organization was great. I didn’t expect somuch attention. I thought it was going to be more difficult to interact, but I was talking non-stop and exchanging ideas with people in the chatrooms! It was a very good format.” If he solves the problem of interpretability, perhaps he will take home the Best Paper award next year?
