ISBI DAILY Saturday 39 “ I have to do that .” [ Laughs ] Which dance do you like? I’ve done classic ballet since I was five. Which is your favorite ballet? Swan Lake. [ Laughs ] Can you still do it? I still keep doing it. You still go en pointe? No, just half pointe. My feet are not that good anymore. Because of ballet? Yes. [ Laughs ] You see that sometimes, when you put a burden on yourself, you pay the price. Are you not afraid that by imposing on yourself all this pressure, you might one day pay the price? Yes, of course. So, how can you be sure that you will not burn out? I’m not sure. That’s just the way I am. Can you tell me, of all the teachers that you had since you started to study, which one gives you the strongest impression? Well, I think my PhD supervisor, because he’s the one that I have interacted with more: we’ve been working hand in hand all these years. Is there a teaching of your supervisor that you would like to share? I think he always believes - sometimes I’ve been telling him: this is never going to work - and he always says: “ Yeah, keep trying! ” He’s optimistic. He’s very knowledgeable, so he knows it has to work. Why were you thinking it would not succeed? Are you pessimistic? Because sometimes you are doing something – you have a small mistake in some place, and you just don’t see it and you keep looking wider. Did you think about any different area, different field where you could expand your horizon? I really like the medical imaging. I try to expand within this, different kinds of images or different kinds of applications. One last question for you: Real or Atletico? Atletico, of course! Maria Sainz de Cea BEST OF
