Computer Vision News - April 2016
Guest COMPUTER VISION NEWS CVN: Is Artificial Intelligence the most promising area in our future? Raschiatore: I believe so, especially AI software. Progress in hardware has been exceptional in the whole IT field and we tend to take it as granted. What is most surprising is progress in software applications: as an insider, I am in the position to testify that methodologies are radically changing: programming a system to train itself to understand is a revolution; deciphering handwriting (a project we are currently working on); finding defective parts in a complex scene; training the program on images instead of deterministic algorithms. 7 CVN: What opportunities would you recommend to a young engineer entering the field? Raschiatore: Regarding software, I would certainly recommend everything related to AI and neural networks. We cooperate with universities and are close to many such engineers: the first advice we always give is to be open-minded , observe what is done in all fields. And to those who want to succeed also in the business world, we believe that dedication, persistence, acceptance of changes, patience and hard work are the keys to success. Besides that, an international attitude is a definite must. “ Dedication, persistence, acceptance of changes, patience and hard work are the keys to success ”
