CVPR Daily - Thursday
I doubt this is the most difficult thing you have handled these years. Count the students? It's impossible to count, I guess probably less than 20 who I work with more or less directly. I'm permanently involved in 10+ projects so that probably means 10+ students at any given point in time. I'm also collaborating with many amazing researchers like Kate Saenko from Boston University and Yejin Choi from the University of Washington. It's quite interesting in the scope of semantic forensics, among other things and other problems. Without the students, of course, nothing would happen. So the students are there. You are called Anja. Where do you come from originally? I'm not at all American. I have a German last name, but I'm neither German. I'm Ukrainian, and my husband is German. Where are you from originally? Ukraine. Odessa. Odessa is one of my favorite places in this world. I adore this place. Can you tell us something about Odessa? I think it's a funny place. It's known for its sense of humor, which is almost, sometimes puzzling to me because I don't know that many people who are really funny. Nevertheless, it has its own very unique vibe from markets to any public spaces. You run into interesting individuals and peculiar people. Don't forget the opera! The opera house is stunning. I traveled to Odessa for a weekend just to watch the Carmen Suite... I definitely miss that. Something I realized only after I left Odessa is how much I'm attached to the sea. I guess people who live near the sea just grow that way and they just need it. Maybe now is the right moment to talk about something that put your name in the news at CVPR. Even newcomers know that you are proposing CVPR 2022 PAMI-TC motion 4. I’ll let you explain what this motion says and why you took this initiative. Yes, it's a complicated question. To make a long story short, maybe on a very personal, human level, I think it's really important for me to see that my community cares and my community speaks its mind. Like other communities have spoken, I just really want to hear from my 22 DAILY CVPR Women in Computer Vision Thursday
